In this hands-on assemblage art class, you’ll create your own Pocket Tin Altar — a tiny shrine tucked inside a mint tin, inspired by the imagery, traditions, and atmosphere of fall & spooky season!

Assemblage is the art of bringing together found objects, images, ephemera, textures, and tiny treasures to create a dimensional story. For this class, we’ll use those techniques to create a miniature altar or shrine filled with the things that speak to you about this time of year. Think fallen leaves, crows, moons, keys, candles, vintage Halloween imagery, autumn botanicals, curious little objects, ancestors, apples & pumpkins, remembrance, and a little bit of magic.

Your tin might become:

• A Samhain altar

• A tiny ancestor shrine

• A remembrance or memorial shrine

• A witch’s pocket altar

• An intention altar

• A seasonal autumn shrine

• A tiny haunted house or Halloween assemblage

• Or simply a miniature world inspired by the  beauty of the season

We’ll explore how to layer images, textures, symbols, found objects, and embellishments to create a tiny three-dimensional composition with its own story and meaning.

All materials will be provided, including tins, vintage-inspired images, papers, embellishments, tiny objects, natural elements, and other seasonal treasures. You are also encouraged to bring along any small objects, photographs, charms, jewelry pieces, natural treasures, or other meaningful bits and pieces you'd like to incorporate into your art.

No previous art or assemblage experience is necessary.
